Dear ALORA members,

We hope you are healthy and safe wherever you are. We are being reminded how important it is to try to stay positive and healthy in body and in mind during this challenging time.

We would like to share different ways to help you do that, from the confinement of your own home!

Stay Connected

We encourage you to stay connected and in touch with family, friends and colleagues. You are not alone! There are countless ways to stay connected with all of the well-known communication and social media tools that exist these days. You may wish to check out our recent discovery, Houseparty, a fun face-to-face social network app that allows you to have group video chats with up to six parties.

If you are feeling stressed or anxious, don’t forget that the OECD psychosocial team is available during working hours and new partnerships have been negotiated to offer full 24/7 psychosocial support. Details may be found on the OECD Covid-19 intranet page. You may also find it useful to read the World Health Organization’s guide on How to Cope with Stress.

Poetic and Scientific Consultations with the Théâtre de la Ville
While theatrical performances have been put on hold, the Théâtre de la Ville is offering some very interesting types of telephone consultations. Over 40 of their actors are offering poetic consultations, a very special 10-20 minute private exchange with an actor who will ease your confinement ailments by speaking with you for a while, then by reading a poem chosen especially for you. From 8 years of age and up. Poetic consultations are available in French and in 13 other languages.
You may also partake in a scientific consultation with a scientific expert associated with the theatre, exchange questions and discoveries according to your curiosity on the chosen theme. 20-25 minutes. From 14 years of age and up.

Fight the epidemic

In the face of the Covid-19 epidemic, there are many people tirelessly working at the forefront of the fight to save lives and ensure the vital functions of our country.

The site En Première Ligne focuses on giving us a chance to help fight the epidemic by offering help to the caregivers, pharmacists, members of the emergency services, home help for people with disabilities or the elderly, people ensuring the supply of medicines, food, energy, and so many other professions.

If you are willing to offer to help one of these people that lives near you in some way, take a look at this website

If you are looking for other ways to help those in need during this challenging time, you may wish to give a donation. Here are a few ideas shared by EXD and another from ALORA.
-- #PourEux: give food or other necessities to those in need
-- Fondation de France: helping hospitals in France
-- Institut Pasteur: scientific research to fight Covid-19
-- The Red Cross: supporting vulnerable people
-- Les restos du cœur: distributing food to those in need
-- Utopia 56: helping refugees in France
